The NFC TagWriter by NXP is a versatile application that allows you to store and manage various types of data on NFC-enabled tags and items such as posters, business cards, and watches. With this application, you can easily store contacts, bookmarks, geo location information, Bluetooth handover settings, SMS messages, emails, and more.

Once you have stored your data, the NFC TagWriter allows you to read and view the programmed information. You can also configure the application to automatically launch specific applications based on the data stored on the tags.

Please note that while it is now possible to install TagWriter on non-NFC enabled phones, programming tags is only supported on NFC-enabled devices. However, you can still prepare NFC data sets on larger screen devices and share them with NFC-enabled handsets.

The NFC TagWriter also provides the ability to automatically launch applications based on the data read from NFC-enabled tags and items. The following types of NFC data sets are supported for launching applications:

  • Contact (vCard) - import data into the address book
  • Bookmarks (URL) - open a specific web address
  • Plain text - display simple messages on the screen
  • SMS (SMS URI) - create a new message
  • Mail (Mail URI) - create a new email message
  • Telephone number (TEL URI) - start a call
  • Bluetooth - pair and connect devices
  • WiFi - connect to WiFi networks
  • Geo location - open a specific destination
  • File URI - open a file on the device, includes file picker UI
  • URI - create any kind of URI, including those not directly supported by NXP TagWriter

The NFC TagWriter supports a range of configuration options, allowing you to customize the application to fit your specific needs and preferences.

This application fully supports NFC Forum Type 1, Type 2, Type 3, and Type 4 tags. It is compatible with a wide range of NXP and third-party NFC-enabled contactless IC products, including MIFARE Ultralight, MIFARE Classic, MIFARE DESFire, NTAG 21x, NTAG I2C, ICODE SLI, and more. Please note that while TagWriter supports all NDEF pre-formatted tags for NDEF operations, the formatting to NDEF feature is limited to NXP Tags.
